Carrog (Year 6)

An introduction to Carrog class...

Hello and welcome to Carrog class’ page! Year 6 children are in this class this year and I hope for a very happy one! I am Miss Elin Wyn Williams, the class teacher, and some of my interests are walking, socialising with friends and travelling.

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Jennifer McGilvary
PPA Teacher:
Mr Owain Gwilym
our P.E lessons will be on Wednesdays.

Reading books – Your child will receive reading books to take home. We kindly ask you to use the reading record on your child’s Google Classroom to note when you have listened to your child read at home.

Homework - Homework will be set for the children on a Friday and is expected to be completed by Tuesday. The work will be set on Google Classroom, but if there is any problem, your child will be able to receive a paper copy. I kindly ask for your support to ensure that your child completes the homework on time.

Help / Enquires - Please contact through ‘message’ on Classdojo.

Our theme:
Our theme for this term is ‘The 60s’. Through literacy, numeracy and digital competency tasks, we will be developing our skills further whilst learning all about our exciting new topic.

In the humanities lessons, we will be focusing on the culture, way of life, famous people and events of this period in time.

In our language lessons we shall be studying two novels; ‘Y 60au ych-a-fi’ by Catrin Stevens and ‘Matilda’ by Roald Dahl. The children will develop their extended writing skills whilst exploring topics such as Aberfan and Martin Luther King’s speech. Furthermore, there will be opportunities to discuss, perform and express opinions.

The children will have the opportunity to express themselves creatively by experimenting with the well-known art, fashion and music of the period.

We place an emphasis on the health and wellbeing of all learners and pupils will have the opportunity to stay physically and mentally healthy through PE lessons, PSHE and Growth Mindset sessions.

We continue to use Google Classroom for work within the classroom and also for homework.
