Latest Development Plan Priorities

As a school, we always challenge ourselves to be innovative in what we do to ensure that all our pupils are given the solid foundation they need to build on, to be successful in their lives.

There are many changes in education in Wales at present, and it is important that we are ready for these changes. We have taken this into account when deciding on our priorities for this year.

School Development Plant priorities 2019 – 2020:

  1. Ensure that pupils apply their numeracy skills effectively to solve problems more independently across the curriculum.
  2. How embedding an open mind-set amongst all school stakeholders will lead to a change in ethos?
  3. How will developing school self-evaluation of ALN lead to change?
  4. Improve provision to support outdoor teaching and learning in the foundation phase.
  5. Upskill all school staff so that they are competent to teach children about current digital safety.

WELSH GOVERNMENT GRANT FOR PUPILS: 2019 - 2020

The school has received confirmation that it will receive a grant of £69,000 to spend on supporting Year 1 - 6 pupils and £17,500 for nursery and reception pupils. The school will continue to spend the money on employing a School Welfare Officer, play therapist and assistant.

The Estyn inspection report, January 2019, notes that "The school makes very creative use of the pupil development grant to meet its pupils' needs in a way that makes them more willing to learn."
