Reading Books: Your child will receive reading books and a log every Monday, and we ask that they return them on the Friday of the same week so they can receive new books. We appreciate it if you can listen to and discuss the books with your child and record it in the Reading Log. You are welcome to upload recordings of your child reading on Seesaw.
Help/Questions: Please contact via Seesaw.
Our theme: War and Peace is the name of our theme for this term and the next half term. We will study castles and how their design was used during battles. The children will learn a lot about the Second World War and compare how lives have changed since the 1940s. They will learn about the effects of this war and other conflicts. To understand what peace is, we will study famous peacemakers and understand the impact of their vision and work on people. We’re looking forward to learning a lot!
Mathematics: In our Maths lessons, we will continue to focus on mental arithmetic, exercises involving the four operations, and reinforce their knowledge of multiplication tables. We will further develop work on shape and measurement units, and then build skills in data and probability, weaving in what has been learned in our cross-curricular work. By the end of the year, we will have had a taste of developing algebra skills too.
Language: We will reinforce and develop our language skills in Welsh and English through various speaking, reading, and writing tasks. As with Numeracy, there will be opportunities to integrate the skills learned into cross-curricular tasks. There will also be opportunities to begin learning a few international languages to spark interest and learn about different cultures around the world.
Health and Wellbeing: Pupils will have opportunities to stay physically and mentally healthy through PE lessons, ABaCh sessions, and Mindfulness lessons.
